Course Description:
This intensive program is designed for prospective and in-service university lecturers to enhance their pedagogical skills and professional development. It covers essential topics such as adult learning theories, curriculum design, classroom management, assessment strategies, communication skills, and professional ethics, providing a comprehensive foundation for effective teaching in higher education.

Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand and apply adult learning theories in the university context.
  • Design and deliver effective lectures, facilitating student-centered learning.
  • Develop and implement effective assessment strategies for university students.
  • Improve communication and interpersonal skills for teaching and interaction with students, colleagues, and administrators.

Course Content:

  • Module 1: Educational Psychology and Adult Learning (8 Hours)
    Topics: Adult learning theories (Andragogy, Experiential Learning, Transformative Learning), cognitive development, and creating a student-centered learning environment.
  • Module 2: Curriculum and Instruction in Higher Education (12 Hours)
    Topics: Curriculum design, lecture delivery, student-centered learning, integrating technology, and assessment strategies at the university level.
  • Module 3: Classroom Management and Organization in Higher Education (6 Hours)
    Topics: Creating a conducive learning environment, managing classroom expectations, promoting active learning, and handling student challenges.
  • Module 4: Delivery of the Training (6 Hours)
    Topics: Communication and presentation skills, active listening, effective use of instructional methods, and technologies like video conferencing.
  • Module 5: Assessment and Evaluation in Higher Education (4 Hours)
    Topics: Assessment principles, formative and summative assessments, grading, and using assessment data to inform teaching practices.
  • Module 6: Communication and Collaboration (4 Hours)
    Topics: Effective communication with students, colleagues, and administrators, collaboration in research and teaching, and engagement in professional development.
  • Module 7: Professional Ethics and Responsibilities (4 Hours)
